The tradition continues today but on a broader scale, including contemporary pieces and antiques from tribes all across North America. Pendeleton blankets, bows & arrows, dreamcatchers, medicine wheels, handicrafts, hats, inukshuks, jewelry, leather, moccasins, peace pipes, tomahawks and totem poles are some of the fascinating and beautiful handmade items you can find on display here.

Open and bright, this established gallery first opened in 1974 and is still one of Banff's best. A wide range of artwork includes both large- and small-scale pieces in a variety of media. Pottery, bronzes, glass, wood carvings, stone sculptures and jewelry are all available, but the main draw is the array of Native American art, especially the soapstone, granite and alabaster sculptures. Gift items are also available, making a nice complement to the extensive selection of wall art and freestanding pieces. The staff is friendly, eager to help, and willing to provide information on all the artists and individual works.

Occupying part of an historic building, this gallery places a premium on works created by Canadian artists. Set in an environment of white walls, hardwood floors, and a pressed metal ceiling, the shapes and textures of the pieces become prominent. Much of the merchandise is Native American in origin: stone sculpture, wood turnings, jade carvings, and antler carvings are among the finds. Accompanying them are jewelry, raku pottery, geodes, sharks teeth and other fossils. Many of the items are quite affordable, and the quality is substantial as well.
