CHRIST CHURCH PARISH. Virtually from the moment it opened in 2003, the Restaurant at Southsea has been earning praise from local and international publications, food critics, and guests alike. Chefs Barry Taylor and Peter Bourne fashion some fabulously inventive dishes, but even the few more traditional offerings are perfection on a plate. Ostrich carpaccio, spicy orange-vanilla glazed deep fried alligator, rosemary roasted elk on pumpkin puree, tamarind-glazed mahi-mahi and macadamia-crusted barracuda are just some of the inspired options you're likely to find on the ever-changing menu. The vegetarian menu is perhaps the best on the island as well, and you'll find truly impressive wine, vintage rum, and cigar offerings. Make reservations well in advance.
