RAVAL. Although situated in a less than palatable part of town (please take a cab at night), this is perhaps one of the most sophisticated Catalan restaurants in Barcelona, having served the likes of King Juan Carlos, Queen Sophia and Julio Iglesias. The food is fresh and prepared for maximum flavor. Great choices include artichoke hearts stuffed with wild mushrooms and duck liver, spider crabs and shrimp, and desserts made by the owner's daughter, a master pastry chef. Reservations recommended.
