6. Pulteney Bridge

Among the city's definitive landmarks, Pulteney Bridge hails from 1774 and is famous for being one of only two bridges in the world to feature shops. Equally noteworthy for its massive arches and the spectacular view it provides of the area. After sustaining considerable damage by two devastating floods, the bridge was considered a candidate for the wrecking ball. Thankfully, 1936 saw this icon awarded the title of national monument followed by extensive repair.   (© 10Best)
