2. Sally Lunn's Tea Room

When my boys were little we used to come to Bath for the day on the train. We'd walk past Sally Lunns and on to somewhere without table cloths and food that came supersized on plastic trays....my boys were not appreciative of anything that didnt come in a bun and couldn't be served in 2 minutes flat. Now they've grown up I took myself on a trip to Bath, and to Sally Lunns, and wasnt disappointed. You'd be amazed at how creative they can be with a bun. I had the most wonderful nut pate and chutney with mine and wished I'd had room to try something else too. The waitress was friendly and helpful and the food excellent. I spent a very happy lunch time with good food in historic surroundings. Perhaps now they're all grown up I'll risk it and take the boys there for my birthday!

Sally Lunn's was recommended to me by a local city sightseeing bus driver. I was on my own touring the south of England and lunch had been almost non-existent. When I told him I needed a good meal, he recommended Sally Lunn. When you need to know something ask the locals! He was right! I ordered a large steak and cleaned my plate! It was delicious and satisfying. The service was also very good. I'll be back!

Excellent Tearoom
We found this the essence of English Tearooms. We climbed the stairs to a room full of atmosphere - and my Wesh Rarebit was excellent. Not the place for dinner, perhaps - but super for a tasty lunch!

Do not believe the marketing on this place, not only is is not the oldest house in Bath the service is awful and the cream they served us was rancid
