2. Hunting Island State Park

This is by far the best beach we've ever been to. It is secluded and not very many people go there. We've been going there for over 20 years and have never found any better.

This is one of the nicest, most relaxing beaches on the coast. In addition to good water and sand quality the pine/palm forest provides good shaded areas to picnic. Be sure to take advantage of the kayaking in the lagoon. Kayak Farm does tours there.

The beach is a pleasant surprise. Be sure not to miss climbing to the top of the only lighthouse in SC open to the public. Cost to climb lighthouse is $2. Also admission is only charged for part of the state park and it is now $4.
