This Federal-style mansion, circa 1790's, has enjoyed a vivid past. The Marquis de Lafayette was once a house guest and spoke to the townspeople from its steps. It was later captured by the Union troops during the Civil War and used as their headquarters. One of the only century-old houses around town that is regularly open to the public. It's worth a visit to see how stylish the interiors were over 200 years ago.
