6. Beaver Creek Stable

BEAVER CREEK.   If you've always dreamt of exploring the rugged Rocky Mountain terrain on horseback like a pioneer of old, be sure to check out the excursion schedule at these stables, owned and operated by Steve Jones, a long-time veteran of mountain trail-riding. His Beaver Creek Stables is the only such operation in the area that has "free rein" on land maintained by U.S. Forest Service, which means that customers have the chance to explore land that has been almost entirely untouched by human development. Sign on for a two-hour jaunt through White River National Forest, a trip to the top of Beaver Creek Mountain, or an old-fashioned wagon ride that'll wind up at the doorstep of Beano's Cabin for a fabulous five-course meal.
