3. Opening Day

The Buzz -- Considered the "local's mountain," Beaver Creek opens with a flourish each year in late November, no matter how much early-season snow is on the ground. Indeed, folks from all over the country make arrangements to be at Beaver Creek Mountain when it officially opens, drawn as much by its relative lack of tourists as by its challenging runs. Of course, the resort village gets into the act as well, featuring live music, great food and drink, and a delicious spur event: the World's Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Competition!
