3. Town of Avon

AVON.   In 1874, the first European settlers made their way to the Eagle River Valley and eventually settled in the area that they christened Avon. Today, the town of around 6000 permanent residents is considered the commercial heart and soul of the Eagle River Valley, boasting as it does an eclectic sampling of boutiques, souvenir shops, and unique galleries. Avon also features a number of topnotch restaurants as well as the lovely Nottingham Park and Lake, which offers a peaceful setting for a summer afternoon picnic.   (© 10Best)
