2. Fangshan Restaurant

XICHENG DISTRICT.   Situated northwest of the Forbidden City on the banks of Beihai Lake, Fangshan Chinese Restaurant was founded by three royal chefs in 1925, and continues to offer amazing dishes that were once favored by Qing emperors. The traditional ambiance of this Beijing restaurant is maintained throughout its courtyard building: waitresses are dressed in period costume, meals are served banquet-style and rustic decor adds character to the place.
