1. Lan Gallery Antiques, Ltd.

Wow, we have lived he so long and are very hapy to find this store. It is in the new Antique City building across the street from the old Beijing Curio City, in the Tian Ya building just behind the Starbuck's. My boss was in town and 9 of us went to the Panjianyaun flea market and then down the block to the antique stores and found this one, Lan Gallery! It is medium size store but the pieces they have are really aesthetic and according to our guide authentic. I was really surprised because I have lived in Beijing for 5 years and see it all. In the Antique City building we saw a lot of new furniture and a little of the typical tourist curio items, but Lan Gallery in the Tian Ya building and maybe 3 other stores in the Antique City building seem to have significant real items. I went back to Lan Gallery and met the owner this time and bought an anniversary gift, a pair of gilded silver wedding bracelets (early Qing). The owner is a young woman Audrey Lan and she spoke an educated english (which helped). After so many years working in Beijing, I am still surprised by the good finds that are here. -Davy Schiller Beijing/Washington DC
