The Linen Hall Library is a historic institution and Belfast's oldest library, dating back to 1788. Situated across from City Hall, it houses an extensive collection of Irish literature including the works of Robert Burns. The Political Collection consists of more than 80,000 publications dealing with Northern Ireland's political strife since 1966. The third floor features a vast genealogical area. Visitors are welcome to browse the tomes, read the papers or visit the cafe and gift shop.
