6. Hattieville Central Prison; Prison Gift Shop and Tourist Center

The remarkable story of Hattieville Central Prison began in 2002, when management of the country's sole prison was transferred to the Kolbe Foundation. Their vision of a secure, humane facility based on meaningful rehabilitation and reintegration has had astonishing results. Witness the fine crafts produced by the inmates on sale at the gift shop; there's food and cold drinks here, too. This is a must-stop for anyone traveling to the Community Baboon Sanctuary or the back way to the International Airport.
