BELLEVUE. This open, window-lined cafe attracts a steady stream of customers. Shoppers, professionals, retirees, and families all attend, and the menu appeals to everyone. Dinner classics are available, along with huge omelets made with five large eggs and topped with cheese, vegetables, and chili. Also recommended are Mexican eggs, piled high with chiles, onion, cheddar, and salsa and served on a tortilla. Fluffy biscuits are also a hit, and breakfast is served all day.

BELLEVUE. For a down-home breakfast, this place is hard to beat. Known for scrumptious pancakes, it also serves burgers and sandwiches for lunch. If you can't decide among the ten different pancake choices, go for the "Joe Adams Assortment," which includes potato, buttermilk, buckwheat, and strawberry flapjacks. Chace's is located one mile south of Bellevue Square and is a great place for early risers.

ISSAQUAH. Take-out business is brisk at this combination sweet shop/restaurant, but the quaint dining room, with its soothing yellow walls and hardwood floors, is also a great place to enjoy a meal. Step up to the counter, peruse the menu on the chalkboard, and then settle into the rustic dining area with something delicious. Traditional breakfast favorites are available, but if you like starting your day with something sweet, pastries and baked goods are unrivaled. Great for coffee and dessert or for afternoon tea.
