Located on Bergen's oldest street, these were the old German Assembly rooms throughout the Hanseatic period, where all of the merchants and apprentices socialized. Since almost all shops and houses were made of wood, no fires were allowed. However, this structure was the exception and people sought it out for heat (and beer, meals, and conversation.) This was also where the laws were made. More Details for Hanseatic Assembly RoomsHours: May, Sept 11am-2pm; Jun-Aug 9am-5pm; Oct-Apr Sun 11am-2pm Type: Historic Sites |
