1. Damsgaard Manor

This manor house, built in the 1770's, is less than two miles from the center of town and offers the finest example of a wooden Rococo-style mansion. When it was built, it was considered the finest manor in town, combining the best of European and Norwegian design. Now the home has been painstakingly restored and the garden outside displays the shrubs, trees, and flowers that would have been featured in the 18th century. Also look for sculptures and a carp pool outside on the lawn.   (© 10Best)
