The exhibitions at the Berkeley Art Museum rival those of larger museums, and are very well curated. The interior space is amazing- the different levels and spiraling staircase are reminiscent of the Guggenheim, but a more underground feel as you spiral surrounded by concrete. If you live in Berkeley and have not been here- it's quite common. It seems to only attract serious art lovers, most likely because the external architecture is so foreboding, with it's long horizontals and recessed entrance. But once you venture inside, it's worth the trip. Be sure not to miss the Jackson Pollock and Hans Hoffman!
