Named after a poem by German artist Kurt Schwitters, Anna Blume is notable for its large range of homemade cakes, tasty crepes, and its big breakfasts. Order the filling "Früstücksetagere" – breakfast for two served on a 3-tiered platter layered with fruit, cold meats and delicious cheeses. The interior will also help transport you back to the time of Schwitters - it's nicely styled after Art Nouveau. U-BAHN: Eberswalderstrasse

MITTE. Of an evening, Keyser Soze is a popular hotspot for locals to enjoy drinks post-work or pre-night out. But this slick bar/cafe is also known for serving up an extensive breakfast menu all day long (8am-6pm). While all the classics (eggs, croissants, organic muesli etc.) are represented, you might like to the try the weißwurst – traditional poached sausages from Bavaria. U-BAHN: Oranienburgerstrasse
