This great Gothic church was begun in 1421 and construction continued until 1573. The soaring tower was not completed until 1893. Visitors can climb the spiral staircase to the tower's platform and take in panoramic views of the town. This late Gothic church was constructed in the mid 14th-century on the foundations of an old Nydegg fortress that had been destroyed nearly a hundred years earlier. It underwent extensive renovations in the 1950's.
