SOUTH HILO.   Pana’ewa is the only tropical rainforest zoo in the United States, and a tour of it is one Big Island activity that truly lets you know you’re in Hawai'i. More than 80 animal species are housed at this Big Island zoo, including Namaste, the white Bengal tiger. Bring the kids to see exotic animals such as Jeckle the two-toed sloth, Spike the giant anteater and Tou-Tou and Can-Can, the toucan pair. Pack yourself a picnic and enjoy the tropical flora or sit around the water garden for a brush with Hawaii’s exotic side.   (© 10Best)
