4. Kawaihae Harbor

KOHALA COAST.   Visitors are welcome to take in Big Island attractions that mark this national historic area, including the amazing views of Mauna Kea from the Pu'ukohola Heiau site, built by King Kamehameha in the late 1700s to honor the god of war. Nowadays, this structure is used primarily for Big Island tourism and shipping, as it's one of two major harbors in Hawai'i. Just a tidbit of trivia, Kevin Costner filmed some of his movie "Waterworld" at this spot, so be on the lookout for familiar sights from the flick.   (© 10Best)
