6. Roy's Waikoloa Bar & Grill

KOHALA COAST.   Chef Roy Yamaguchi does a noteworthy job of keeping up his reputation as a top Big Island Japanese restaurant chef at the Waikoloa Bar & Grill. The restaurant is located in a shopping mall, but window seats afford guests beautiful views of the neighboring golf course and lake. Fish and seafood arrive fresh daily and are prominently featured in dishes like blackened ahi and hibachi grilled salmon. The big stars, though, are Chef Roy’s signature Big Island sushi rolls, including Auntie Lei's Aloha Roll and the Lakanilau Roll. As with all Roy's locations the best bet is to sit at the bar and order appetizers with your cocktails--the seared ahi is to die for!!--perimeter tables have a nice view of the Waikoloa golf course or the lagoon.
