HILO. Named after the World War II 100th Infantry Army Batallion, this Big Island breakfast joint has been a local fixture for over 60 years now. The Loco Moco (two heaps of rice, meat, gravy and sunny side up eggs), a Hawaiian delicacy, is said to have been created here at this Hilo restaurant, and it’s some of the best grub you'll eat. The prices are reminiscent of eras past, as is the classic Hawaiian atmosphere. If your taste leans more towards the traditional side, don't worry, burgers and sandwiches are great, too.
