If you're headed to Hilo's beaches, don't miss this little ice cream shop on the main stretch just past Onekahakaha Beach. This is the original site of Hilo Homemade Ice Cream, where it used to be made right in the ice cream shop itself. With plenty of room to sit either inside or under cover outside, you'll enjoy the friendliness of the staff and the aloha spirit. Showing off 24 flavors of old favorites like Rocky Road, along with tropical delights and sorbets, this place is a "must stop." You should also try their Shaved Ice (hint: ask for ice cream on the bottom and they'll put sweet cream on top too!). Decorated in a retro Hawaiian theme, you will also find great deals on souvenirs and gifts here.
