CASCO VIEJO. This historic building, which is now home to the city's historical archives and library, is located in the Casco Viejo area of Bilbao, near the Santiago Cathedral. In the latter years of the 19th century, the El Sitio society commissioned architect Severino de Achucarro to design and construct a building for their social functions and meetings. Years later, the city of Bilbao bought the building, renamed it the Biblioteca Municipal de Bidebarrieta, and opened it to the public. METRO: Casco Viejo   (© 10Best)
