2. Golden Rule Barbecue

HOOVER.   This old school roadside joint always has a packed parking lot during business hours – a testament to how good it is. Indeed, Golden Rule has been serving barbeque to Birmingham for a long time (the first one opened in Irondale in 1891), so it's safe to say they know what they're doing around a pit. There are several other Golden Rule locations in the B-ham area, including one near the original Irondale store (205-956-2678) and another in Lakeview (205-327-5414).
