COLONNADE.
When it comes to grabbing a quick coffee and bagel before work, B'ham residents usually think about Edgar's first. Featuring tables both inside and out, this bakery delivers tasty pastries and breads in the AM and follows those up with gracious deli sandwiches and sinful desserts (including the best carrot cake you’ll ever try) later in the day. There also are locations at Patton Creek (180 W Main St) and Pelham (499 Southgate Dr), but the Colonnade original remains the most popular.

Customer Service
I agree that the staff at the Colonnade location of Edgar's can be very rude. I am also confused about the "Christian" owners having employees who are so haughty. I have spoken with one of the owners who is MUCH nicer than her employees.

Staff is amazingly rude. It's worse when you read about what great Christians the owners profess to be. Makes you wonder why they don't train their staff in the basic skill of politeness. Cakes are so so. I bought my daughter a cake for her 13th birthday there and the back fell off of it. When I called, the teenager on the other end of the phone said that it was probably my fault and she hated it for me. I have been treated shabbily on more than one occasion by the employees at the Colonnade store. For that reason, I don't go in there anymore. Most people just don't know any better. Customer service is everything!!
