BISMARCK. A staple on the local performing arts scene since the early 70s, the Bismarck-Mandan Symphony puts on a number of topnotch performances each year, from Italian operas to the music of Tchaikovsky and Brahms. Performances are held in the historic Belle Mehus City Auditorium, which first opened its doors on January 19, 1914.

Started in the late 70s, this community theater organization puts on a number of shows each season that are entertaining for the entire family, including Arthur Miller's "Death of a Salesman," Neil Simon's "Barefoot in the Park," Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat," and Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet." The group also sponsors the Shade Tree Players, a children's theater group. Performances are staged in the intimate Dakota Stage Playhouse in downtown Bismarck.
