BLOOMINGTON. Italian tile floors and textured stucco walls greet guests who dine here. The tall ceilings are flanked with exposed wooden beams, yet the decor is very elegant making it an appropriate choice for informal dining during the week to a special occasion on the weekend. Many Italian specialties are served here, among them being pizza. Served in 9 inch individual pie sizes, the gourmet Italian specialties include Chicken Piccante, a spicy roast chicken with smoked bacon, leeks and goat cheese; Quattro Formaggi, a white pizza with a blend of four cheeses; and the Margherita, a traditional pie with tomato sauce, mozzarella and fresh basil. Other specialties are cappellini di mare,angel-hair pasta topped with shrimp and calamari in a red Italian sauce and mushroom lasagna.

Located in Colonial Plaza in the shopping district, this restaurant is a favorite with locals for pizza. Pies are made with a variety of ingredients and are cooked to order. Another choice would be the lunch and dinner buffets that feature a salad bar. Fried appetizers, sandwiches, and pasta are also on the menu.

BLOOMINGTON. Before entering Lucca Grill, you might describe it as an old corner pub. After a visit, you might be more inclined to call it a pub with "cozy atmosphere and great food." Locals have been steady here since 1907, not only for the great pizza and inexpensive beer, but also for the friendly crowd that hangs out at the bar. Pizzas come out hot with standard toppings such as pepperoni and mushroom, or gourmet toppings such as vegetarian with pepperoncinis; but the crust is what you will remember. Paper thin and crispy, the crust is one of the things that has made Lucca so popular.

The sauce and pizza dough are made fresh daily at this local family-owned pizza place. Make your own combination of toppings or try one of their specialties, such as Cajun Deluxe (hot sausage, shrimp, onions, Jalapeņo peppers and cheddar cheese), or Chicken Deluxe (chicken, barbecue sauce and cheddar cheese). Thin crust or pan, you will enjoy Micheleo's pizza!
