Harkening back 50 or so years the Royal Palm Plaza was the only place to shop in Boca for the monied and the guest of the former Boca Raton Hotel (now Resort) -- other than the shops inside the hotel concourse. Overrated and overpriced has been the rule of the day for most of these shops. Being well read on Boca Raton history and having grown up there I must add the addition of Addison Mizner's statue -- with monkey -- (atop a tower) is absurd. The monkey phenomenon is new and likely pushed to coordinate with all the monkey kitch being pushed in the passed years. This is likely a feeble bow to the history of the city that has been allowed to be torn down, selling off our links with the past for the developers dollar. [Mizner did contribute to the city via his development, but it would never have been possible without Henry Morrison Flagler's railroad.] The restaurants are worth exploring. Side note: follow around the plaza north towards Palmetto Park Road where you will come upon the Intracoastal Canal, Seminole Indians paddled their dugouts there within the past 100 years. Not all of Florida is about development, kitch and tourism.
