6. The Connemara

While most pubs in Bordeaux adopt a British feel, this one is Irish all the way, with Guinness, of course, as well as eight more beers on tap. Or go with some of Ireland's best whiskey exports. Happy hour is always an event here (or happy five hours – it lasts from 3pm-8pm, in true Irish style). The Irish have a rich musical heritage, so many don't mind bursting into song. If you go on a Monday, you can do the same with a lively karaoke crowd. Authentic food and great fun.   (© 10Best)

Main clientele seems to be French blokes knocking back the Guinness and Murphys. Nevertheless, an oasis in the centre of Bordeaux for ex-pat Brits and Irish. Friendly staff. Good pub grub if you want a change from "cuisine".
