WATERFRONT. Marine-themed exhibits, programs, and demonstrations take place throughout the day at this spectacular, above-ground aquatic extravaganza. Seals, penguins, sharks, and other creatures reside at the aquarium, and a massive, four-story, 187,000-gallon tank features a living coral reef. The West Wing's unique glass and steel exterior mimics fish scales, and special exhibits change monthly. Whale watching excursions are offered seasonally as well. (© 10Best) Whales congregate in the waters off Boston at feeding grounds every summer. You can spot humpbacks, minkes, finbacks, and the occasional right whale. For the best way to see them, take a three- to four-hour whale-watching cruise guided by professionals from the New England Aquarium. In the rare event you don't see any whales, the aquarium will supply tickets for another day free.
