The Buzz -- The Fourth of July in Boston is more than just fireworks. The all-day affair starts with pre-recorded music at the Oval in front of the Hatch Shell and continues with sing-alongs throughout the day. Many families come early with picnics to get the best seats for the final show, which is the fireworks display comprised of more than 20,000 pounds of explosives. They're set off nearly 1,500 feet over the Charles River and accompanied by music composed especially for the event by the Boston Pops. On Friday, there is a concert beginning at 8:30pm and ending at 10pm but no fireworks. |
