5. Goody Glover's

NORTH END.   The old red brick that houses this North End pub is a neighborhood landmark, but its story pales in comparison to that of its namesake, Goodwife Ann Glover, an Irish widow who was the last Bostonian hanged for practicing witchcraft (the deed occurred on 16 November 1688). Today, fortunately, the name "Goody" Glover is no longer associated with only tragedy – no, Goody's is a popular two-level gathering spot that is known for its haute take on traditional Irish grub and its pleasant, laid-back vibe.   (© 10Best)
