BROOKLINE.   This attractive watering hole certainly has an appeal that extends far beyond confines of its Washington Square setting. Contributing to this is the outstanding selection of international brews, which counts among its number microbrews from the New England States, pilsners from Germany and authentic Belgian ales. Equally impressive is the fare, which, thanks to dishes like Triticus-roasted lamb, Arrogant Bastard meatloaf and pumpkin ravioli, is reminiscent of what you'd find in Europe's trendy gastro-pubs. Absolutely the finest beer bar on the Eastern side of the Hudson River. After exhaustive searches in NYC and Boston, this is the best for selection, price and service.
