BACK BAY.   Sophisticated Mistral attracts well-heeled patrons looking to combine the perfect social scene and elegant dining. More popular dishes include grilled salmon with fennel, steamed mussels, and delicious pizzas personalized to fit your taste. As to the space, the spirit of Provence pervades, complementing the high ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows and hand-made pottery with earthy stucco, weathered wood and stone elements.   (© 10Best)

The staff's attitude precludes me ever returning to Mistral. The food, while not exceptional, is quite good. If you're partial to well-lit, contemporary rooms (I'm partial to dim and cozy but like the occasional change of pace), this is an energetic and pretty one. Speaking of pretty, the crowd is well-dressed and mostly attractive. Ah, but the staff. From the moment I walked in each and every employee I encountered "served" with a sneer and made it clear they felt they were doing me a favor that was well beneath them. Hey, guess what, YOU'RE the one waiting on ME, Mr. Cooler-Than-Thou. Frankly, I don't enjoy a heaping helping of 'tude with my meal regardless of what I'm spending. And, at these prices they should be falling all over themselves to make everyone feel welcome and special. This could be a heckuva restaurant. It is, instead, a heckuva waste of time and money.

The Maine crab ravioli appetizer was exceptional. The beef tenderloin, mashed potato and white truffle oil pizza was to die for! The vanilla creme brule'e was delicious. Nadia was a delight to work with, she selected an impeccable wine choice for each course, and was a pleasure to visit with. I highly recommend Mistral's and ask for Nadia if she is available. Look for the valet sign on the street right outside their front door, it is easy to miss the entrance.
