BROOKLINE.   Fugakyu is an elegant sort of place that caters to a sushi loving crowd. The lovely interior features two special dining rooms that have interesting folding rice-paper screens for privacy and feature stone flooring and bubbling fountains. Regulars feast on plates of tempura, sushi, sashimi, and other traditional Japanese dishes. The green tea ice cream is a must-have meal finisher. Great cocktail lounge perfect for mixing with the upper crust.   (© 10Best)

Huge disappointment!
After going to Fugakyu for over 10 years, I told that my last visit was actually last one. Food and service of this place were going downhill for some time. But last 2 dinners we had there were unacceptable! Fish was chopped in ugly chunks, we were served half-frosen uni (waitress told us "it's fresh"). Drink orders were mixed up and we were given a big attitude from both bartender and waitress when we asked to replace them... All this we got for about $250 for 3 people...

10! Never had anything bad here. The wait can be challenging but it is well worth it. I rank it amongst the best for freshness. They compete formidably with New York sushi places, including Nobu, Sushisay, Bond Street. They're only a shade less expensive. Go now.
