16. Naropa University

Founded by a Chögyam Trungpa, a Tibetan scholar, Naropa University is a small, innovative liberal arts college that blends Eastern and Western education techniques. Initially, it was set up to offer only short-term summer programs with the help of Allen Gisberg, Anne Waldman, Diane di Prima and John Cage, among others. But the program proved so popular that, within a couple of years, it had been transformed into a year-round full time university.   (© 10Best)
