The steakhouse is serious about grilling – from steaks to prime rib and chicken – and large portions are cooked to order. Burgers and sandwiches can also be had, along with fried pickle appetizers and sides like turnip greens with bacon or sweet potato casserole. Live country bands begin warming up just before 8pm and provide lively entertainment throughout the evening. A dance floor and a full bar are also on the premises.

THE STRIP. Outback is a great destination for enjoying energetic live music in a variety of styles. Once you're there, choose between two different venues – the outdoor upper-level deck or the lounge – each with its own band. The bar serves a selection of beers and wines, some of which hail from Australia, and sandwiches and appetizers help ward off the munchies. Happy hour is Monday through Friday from 4pm till 7pm. Casual, easy-going style pervades.

DOWNTOWN. Branson's young up-and-comers prefer to congregate at Rocky's after work and on weekends. This lounge is part of Rocky's Italian restaurant, which makes it a perfect pre-dinner cocktail spot. The building is a refurbished feed and seed store, and the walls are lined with artwork crafted by local artists.

THE STRIP. This lodge-affiliated nightclub is one of Branson's most popular, especially with the town's younger crowd. Live bands perform most nights, and many of them are local acts whose members perform by day in nearby theater shows. Expect to hear tunes ranging from funk and soul to classic rock. During the summer, patio parties add extra verve to the regular slate of activities. Club Vegas also offers a full menu of American fare. Dinner reservations are a good idea. Since The Club is frequently rented out for private events, it's a good idea to call ahead.
