CITY CENTER. One of the oldest and most important buildings in Bremen history, the 560-year old Rathaus, or government building, is a central feature of the city. The building is grand in size and scale and was built in the German gothic style. Interior features include a carved-oak staircase, a 16th century religious mural, and the famed Ratskeller in the basement. The Ratskeller is by far the most famous bar and restaurant in the city and is famed for its wine selection.
