Bremen is the home of the legendary beer producer Beck's, which is a popular German choice around the world. Tours allow visitors to see how the beer is made and also taste the finished product. The name Beck's is synonymous with Bremen and a tour of the facilities, followed by a dinner at the Beck's Café, is a must when visiting the city.

DOMSHEIDE. This historic church in the heart of the city center has been a symbol of the growth and culture of Bremen for more than 1,200 years. Important sights include the large pipe organ and crypts that house the bodies of great German leaders throughout history. The interesting lead cellar houses several bodies of workers who were mummified in the 17th and 18th centuries. The cathedral provides an interesting and educational experience.

CITY CENTER. One of the oldest and most important buildings in Bremen history, the 560-year old Rathaus, or government building, is a central feature of the city. The building is grand in size and scale and was built in the German gothic style. Interior features include a carved-oak staircase, a 16th century religious mural, and the famed Ratskeller in the basement. The Ratskeller is by far the most famous bar and restaurant in the city and is famed for its wine selection.

WESER RIVER. There are several companies that lead various tours down the Weser River, which runs through the center of Bremen. The cruises offer visitors a chance to see the surrounding city as well as the river that has been the center of Bremen culture and life for hundreds of years. Rates of cruises vary, as do the lengths of the trips.

CITY CENTER. This historic statue of the knight Roland was built in the very early 1400's and stands as a monument to the strength and history of the city. Locals say the local government built the statue to face the famous church in order to exert their power over the clergy. Take a moment to stand before the statue and take a photograph.

CITY CENTER. Have your picture made standing beneath the most famous statue in the city. Locals will delight in telling you the story of this happy foursome: a donkey, dog, cat, and chicken who came to Bremen and drove out robbers with their growls and noises. The triumphant group proudly called Bremen their home. This metal statue, which is difficult to find because it is hidden away behind the Rathaus, was erected in the 1950s.

CITY CENTER. This interesting Dutch-style windmill sits in a green space in the center of the city near the Altstadt and the main train station. A small pond stands beside the windmill and the gardens that surround it are filled with colorful plants and flowers. An interior café and restaurant offers excellent views of the surrounding parks and city center.
