This deep valley affords magnificent views stretching from South Downs to the north, and from the English Channel to the National Trust marker. Though this was actually formed by glacial movement, a legendary story accompanies the breathtaking views. The legend goes that the Dyke was formed by the devil in an attempt to inundate the churches of the Weald. The devil was scared away by the light of a woman's candle, for he thought it came from the sunrise. An open-topped bus tour is a good way to take in these views. A sign is posted from Hove at the junction of the A27. (© 10Best) More Details for Devils Dyke
