This unique palace was a conservative farmhouse during the late 18th century. George IV used the skills of architect John Nash to design the ornate structure that stands here today. The intriguing exterior design displays various aspects of Indian architecture, while the decor inside reflects styles typical of the Orient. In touring the magnificent building, visitors should be sure to notice the one-ton chandelier that dangles from the jaws of a dragon, the columns shaped as palm trees, and the elaborate music room that is lined with over 20,000 gilded scales.
