Westport Country Playhouse first opened its doors to a packed house on a stormy night in 1931. Since that tempestuous night, the theater has been going strong and has won accolades for being one of the region's best. From musical revues to romantic comedies and thrilling who dun its, the playhouse sculpts an exciting season. Although it's been retrofitted to include the latest in lighting and sound technology, the playhouse is located in a vintage red barn that's become the signature aspect of what the locals call the "red barn theater."
