Guests will take advantage of the American Plan that includes three squares and a sumptuous room. The 10,000-acre resort includes a golf course and tennis courts, fitness center, beach club, a variety of restaurant and bar options and children's programs. While not as posh as other island resorts, this historic getaway is well liked by travelers for the variety of lodging options it offers, including a main lodge with dining room, rustic hunting lodges and a riverside cabin. Amenities include daily meals, on-site activities and entertainment, local transportation and water sports. Be warned: rooms do not have telephones or televisions. NB The resort's 10,000 acres and 7 miles of beach are shared with no more than 30 overnight guests at a time - now that's privacy!
