DOWNTOWN. Modeled after an early 20th century pub, this friendly Irish establishment is outfitted with worn wood, brick walls and a pressed-tin ceiling. Locals, drawn from every walk of life, frequent the digs and chow down on burgers and fried bologna with a pint of ale. The atmosphere's conducive to long chats, and everyone's made to feel welcome here.

DOWNTOWN. Located by the historic Lafayette Hotel, this nightclub features jazz performances by local, national and international musicians and includes some of the hottest acts on the blues circuit. Dinner, drinks and dancing are also highlighted at this Buffalo landmark. Business casual dress is appropriate, and reservations are accepted.

DOWNTOWN. Awesome dance nights and creative drinks keep this club packed. Splurge for the bar's signature drink the El Diablo (amaretto, sloe gin, triple sec, raspberry schnapps, orange vodka and Bacardi 151); or, if you dare crave brew, try a dose of Original Sin Hard Cidar or a Dixie Crimson Voodoo Ale. On Friday nights folks move and groove to tunes from the past four decades, while Saturdays feature live rock.

ALLENTOWN. Club Marcella is located on Buffalo's Main Street. Enjoy the hip sounds spun by great DJ's on the large dance floor or relax with friends around the bar. This is one of Buffalo's premiere gay clubs. Special events and shows with female impressionists are featured throughout the year. Heterosexual couples join the fun on Friday nights. The bar areas are well stocked. The owner and bartenders, native to the area and true gentlemen, make sure that everybody has a great time.

DOWNTOWN. Located in downtown Buffalo, this stylish yet unpretentious corner bar is a diamond in the rough that attracts Buffalo's young and beautiful. Patrons mingle over drinks while rock, alternative and memorable 80s beats play in the background. Occassional live bands and theme nights add to the fun.

WILLIAMSVILLE. Renowned for its fabulous beer and savory grub, this popular bar's the place to grab a bite of some of the city's famous fare. Try the sampler platter, which features chicken wings, seasoned to your liking, and a mini beef on weck, or order the full-sized sandwich, stuffed with slow-roasted beef that's been soaked in ale. In addition to several house brews, there's a wide selection of beer on tap that might include Guinness, Stella Artois, Newcastle and Sam Adams.

TONAWANDA. This dark tavern's a cozy spot to frequent, preferably over beer and chili, on a cold day. Swiston's offers a bare bones menu; however, fans of the area's beef on kummelweck contend there's no room for improvement upon Swiston's version of the legendary sandwich. Plus, at $2-3 per beer, the prices are right. If the weather allows, take your mug outdoors and enjoy a view of the marina from the patio.

Housed in a century old historical building, the Left Bank features an interesting menu complete with decadent pastas, seafood, steak and vegetarian specialties.
