6. Robert Hull Fleming Museum

UNIVERSITY OF VERMONT.   One of UVM's treasures, this museum boasts a substantial collection of art and artifacts – more than 20,000 objects. Among the Fleming's more impressive holdings are objects from the Ancient World: a 9th century Assyrian relief, an Egyptian mummy, and Sumerian cuneiform tablets. Those with an affinity for art rather than history will adore the museum's European and American collections, which include paintings by Homer, Wollaston, Corot, Flinck, and Romney, as well as a unique sampling of works by Vermont photographers, painters, and artisans.   (© 10Best)
