DOWNTOWN. The state's first brewpub (it opened in 1988), Vermont Pub and Brewery is the brainchild of Greg and Nancy Noonan, who wanted to create a place where Queen City neighbors could share a love of ales and lagers. The pub, which boasts patio seating, features beautiful dark mahogany fittings and all the traditional British accoutrements, including a menu that includes burgers, fish & chips, bangers & mash, and shepherd's pie. For those with a taste for something a bit less less hoppy, there's a full menu of scotches. Live music during the summer.
