4. Embarcadero Wine and Oyster Bar

A stately brick house with lovely architectural details and loads of charm awaits diners at this popular restaurant. Given the name (which means "wharf"), the place specializes in seafood. You'll find a regular selection of oysters from both coasts, scallops, Dungeness crab cakes, and a robust seafood medley that combines salmon, mussels, prawns, scallops, and lobster in a savory sauce. If you happen not to be a seafood lover, the restaurant offers pastas, lamb, quail, and a number of other turf-based dishes. The wine list is terrific, should you want to add a selection or two to your dinner, and desserts are scrumptious all the way around.
